CULPRIT 1 PRESENTS SCREAMER
Following a few years of contemplative and productive silence, Culprit 1 has kicked off the new decade by returning to the musical fray with the appropriately-titled single Screamer.
Culprit 1 has been affectionately labelled “the DJ Shadow of Wales” by none other than Radio 1’s uber-DJ Annie Mac and was originally discovered and signed by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. He is equally at home in an electronic beat-driven environment as he is in the contemporary classical genre, bringing a revelatory aspect to his wide-ranging musical output.
New single Screamer has proved to be a fan favourite in Culprit 1’s live performances thanks to its extraordinary amalgamation of frenzied drums, hectic percussion and filthy analogue synths. It's recently had spins from Eddy Temple Morris (XFM), Huw Stephens and Bethan Elfyn (BBC Radio 1), plus Pathaan (BBC Asian Network). Together with the Three Drummers Mix and a cracking yet luscious dubstep re-work from Ranking Records producer Plana, it's available right now from iTunes, Beatport and Juno Download! Don't miss...
NEW SIGNING AHOY! BLACK DIAMOND BAY JOIN THE EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY
Black Diamond Bay are a Leeds based 7 piece who play imaginative electro/indie/folk, but as with all things in life it is not quite that simple. The twists and turns of their music make it difficult to reduce it down to a simple set of musical rules. There is something ethereal and elemental about Black Diamond Bay that just won’t slot into a simple off the cuff definition.
Black Diamond Bay were born out of attic based production duo Tarentum who brought in some hand picked musicians from Leeds College of Music to join them and play their songs. Their history that includes random elements like: a childhood Eurovision experience, broadcast script writing, being the number one act on MySpace Lithuania for 2009, playing the main stage to great acclaim at Kendal Calling, with further support from BBC Radio Leeds, Kiss, 6 Music and XFM prior to formally releasing any music. However beyond what you might seem immediately obvious about the band, there is that other intangible element that all great bands have in common, a sense of poetry and mystery. Black Diamond Bay are there to unfold, it begins with “Worship The Sun” and the debut album “XYZ” that follows later in 2010.
Catch their atmospheric, epic and deliciously different sounds in action at The Fenton in Leeds on Feb 27th and London's The Bull & Gate on March 17th.
IT'S NOT RIGHT! FEATURING STREETLIFE DJs IN TOW...
Having caused quite a stir with his previous release Flagsuckers, 10 Rapid is back with a filthy banger...
Yep in our humble opinion, Mr Rapid has gone and done it again with this electro-techno mash up, starring a top notch blend of blips, breaks and disgusting basslines. With his signature sound of big thrashy synths and crazy production techniques, the Rapid one already counts Groove Armada, Cagedbaby, James Zabiela and the Plump DJ’s as fully paid-up members of his ever growing supporters club.
Complementing the 10 Rapid mixes perfectly are two stunning versions from the We Love the Disco Sound squad aka the Streetlife DJ’s. Signed to the achingly hip Kitsune, the Streetlifers have put the track through the blender. The end result that is so OTT it should probably have a government health warning attached!
And if that’s not enough there’s plenty more action going down in Rapidworld, with recent remixes for Grum, Malente and Burn The Negative hitting the spot. Clearly there’s no such thing as a dull moment round at Castle Rapid.

This time around we're showcasing the finest from our exceptional black imprint, which means a host of electro, breaks and dubstep to fill your ears and move your feet! You can head over the iTunes - click here and get downloading. It features Boston electro heads Hot Pink Delorean doing their mighty fine thing with The Rogue Element's "Lumina", plus the latest from Nursery of Naughtiness, a storming dubstep mix from Reso and a lot more...
NEW ROGUE ALERT Never one to rest on his laurels, our producer extraordinaire The Rogue Element returns with a new single and some rather tasty remixes in tow...
“Lumina” is a dark and twisted beast, stabbed with filtered keys, thundering bass and raining synths, one of the true gems from the inventive and acclaimed second album.
The first remix comes courtesy of Boston’s own Hot Pink Delorean, as you may have heard spun recently on Kissy Sell Out's radio show... The Deloreans have worked with Beyonce and M.I.A among others and claim, wildly, to be “what porno should be”. You really can’t argue with that kind of statement.
Remix number two comes from the irrepressibly discerning peddlers of dirt disco Loose Cannons. Otherwise known as Kaiser Saucy & Lord Fader (christen your kids with those names and you’re asking for trouble), Loose Cannons have an impressive CV, which includes Lady Gaga, Roisin Murphy, The Mighty Boosh & Speech Debelle. We’re excited to have them injecting their own special brand of dirt-fuelled disrepute into “Lumina”.
Gothenberg exile and currently Berlin resident Alex Berg/Cloud is back with a new bouncy, cheeky and infectious single.
All Over features a nifty vocal refrain from that star of the Berlin underground Androgenious, sitting snugly on top on top of simple yet effective electronics. Add in a nod to classic 90s synth sounds and you have another fine track for the collection.
Also included in the package is the dazzling remix of Innocence from New York’s future finest Falconcrest.
